Celebrating the origins of food at Selfridges

Meet the Makers is ‘a celebration of the farmers, the butchers, the chefs, the growers and the producers behind the food and drink at Selfridges’. If you’ve been anywhere near the Selfridges Food Hall recently it will have been pretty hard to miss!

On Tuesday 5th August our team ventured out from the safe haven of Aubaine on the second floor, and took over the Meet the Makers demonstration kitchen in the heart of the Food Hall. Our Head Pastry Chef, Sebastien Charrier, brought to life the pastries and cakes that are so integral to the Aubaine way of life.

Sebastien showed off his skills with a range of fresh pastries as well as the pièce de résistance – his almond cake with fresh strawberry jam and mascarpone Chantilly. Offering delicious tasters to Selfridges customers gave us the opportunity to speak to people personally while giving them tips and ideas for their own cooking. We hope they enjoyed meeting our team!

The food, wine and service were utterly faultless and as for the interior… I want my whole house to look like that! While you won’t find Aubaine everywhere (it’s not Pizza Express people) there are a fair few all over London. So next time you’re in town, I’d highly recommend getting yourself to the nearest one… and ordering the Sea Bass.
