Halcyon Gallery is a distinctive artistic hub situated in the heart of Mayfair in London.
Established in Birmingham in 1982, Halcyon Gallery has a rich history of bringing modern art to cities in Britain. Halcyon Gallery opened on Bold Street in 2006 and managed to open a second branch in 2011 at Harrods in Knightsbridge. Halcyon Gallery not only manages to showcase art from emerging artists bursting onto the scene, but has also displayed art from such established artists as Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan, Dominic Harris and David Hockney.
The Bond Street location is the Halcyon Gallery flagship space and the building it sits in at 144-146 New Bond Street was actually opened as a gallery in 1901, so the space has a long and important history of art. With five floors and 12,000 square metres, Halcyon Gallery has evolved into a significant player in the city’s cultural landscape.
Originally founded by Paul Green and his father Harold Green, the gallery began as a modest venture, gradually expanding its scope and influence over the years. In the early 2000s, Halcyon Gallery underwent a transformative period under the leadership of Paul Green’s son, Paul Green Jr. This era saw the gallery’s relocation to its current flagship space on New Bond Street, solidifying its presence as a prominent destination for contemporary art.
In addition to the art showcased within Halcyon Gallery, the institution spearheads an initiative involving the installation of public sculptures across the globe. They’ve had sculptures in Hyde Park in London, the Grand Canal in Venice, the courtyard of the State Hermitage in Saint Petersburg and Shanghai’s financial district, to name a few. Public art is an important part of the idea behind Halcyon Gallery.
Halcyon Gallery also has a passion for charity and works with them as well as non-profit organisations, such as The Royal Parks Foundation and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award World Fellowship.
Halcyon Gallery is a stone’s throw away from places such as the Royal Institution, Savile Row, New Bond Street and the Royal Academy of Arts.
