One of Bayswater, London’s, biggest attractions is QUEENS, an incredible ice rink and bowling alley with various exhilarating activities under one roof. After a recent refurbishment, this fun emporium has a cool retro vibe with graffiti decor illuminated by vintage red lights. As central London’s only permanent ice rink, locals and visitors alike can enjoy the thrill of ice skating all-year round.
Originally opening in the 1930s as QUEENS Ice Club, QUEENS has developed into an institution for those seeking a fun day out. QUEENS was the creation of architect Alfred Octavius Edwards. He was a lover of ice skating and also designed The Grosvenor House Ice Skating Rink which has since become the Ballroom in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. QUEENS remains the oldest ice rink in Britain and was the first ice skating rink captured by the BBC for television.
The slick 12,000ft ice rink is open every day, all-year round, and is the perfect contemporary centre for all ages and experience. The ice rink has a cool, warehouse vibe with mood lighting and music. Home to the single West London outpost of MEATliquor, the new SINBIN is QUEENS’ new rink-side dive-bar where visitors can stop and refuel.
QUEENS has relaunched its exciting Ice Karting experience for over 18s, where you can race 8 modified go-karts around a jumbo ice rink up to 35kph. This unique karting adventure is perfect for those seeking a new and exciting activity. Whether you want to test your drifting skills alone or book a private party of up to 40 teams to battle their way up the leaderboard, it will be an experience unlike any other. There are also opportunities to try curling on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with food and drink by MEATliquor and a top soundtrack.
In the bowling alley, the main bowling lanes are lit with fluorescent blue lettering in an otherwise dark and intimate setting and has been refurbished with twelve new, competition standard lanes. For adults only, the liquor lanes area is the perfect place for an enhanced, bowling experience. Suitable for private hire, there are five state-of-the-art ruby lanes with a dedicated host, private bar and unbelievable sound system.
A section of QUEENS is dedicated to an array of retro arcades. Travel back in time and enjoy a range of gameslike Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Tetris, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and even air-hockey tables. MEATliquor also features a pair of pool tables and darts, as well as vintage photo-booths to remember your visit.
For Christmas 2019, QUEENS has bundled together some favourite activities for discounted packages to enjoy over the festive period. Whether it’s neon-lit bowling, ice-skating or curling, there’s a range of custom packages specifically designed to ensure that you get the most out of your visit.
